About Us

After a lengthy military career, John Reeves decided it was time for wife Dorothy to return to her native home of Provincetown. Purchasing a restaurant along with brother-in-law Elmer Silva seemed like the perfect thing to do.  So John and Dorothy moved with sons, Bill & Don, from Texas to Cape Cod in 1971.  It wasn’t long before they had PJ’s Dari-Burger running and ready for business.

Since opening, PJ’s has always been dedicated to using local, quality products and providing a good value for families.  PJ’s started with the usual fare of fried clams, hot dogs, burgers, homemade clam chowder and onion rings, and of course soft serve ice cream. The menu expanded in 1993 to include lobsters, steamed clams and mussels, broiled, baked and grilled seafood, along with a variety of salads and homemade soups, including the popular Portuguese “kale soup.”  The menu continues to grow to include homemade items such as fried chicken, crab cakes, stuffed clams and a variety of seafood specials.   With so much to choose from, it’s hard to pick a favorite!!

As the restaurant grew, so did the family.  Daughters-in-law, Marcia and Denise, joined the team and could be found in the front of the house with Dorothy.  As always, Don could be found cooking at his dad’s side.  Over the years, sons, daughters, nieces and nephews have found their place at PJ’s along with countless other loyal employees.  Multiple generations have worked in the kitchen and at the counter before heading off to start their careers.

When you come to PJ’s today, you’ll still find Don in the kitchen, along with nephew Brian.  Denise and Marcia at the counter keep things running up front.  You’ll also find that PJ’s is still the place to come for a good family meal featuring the best local foods, made fresh at affordable prices.

Many people ask, “What does PJ’s stand for?”  John Reeves’ grandchildren always called him “Pa John.”  Although the restaurant was named by its previous owners, over time we’ve come to think of “PJ’s” as meaning only one thing:  Pa John’s Family Restaurant.
